Preorder Now 〰️

As a hospice nurse, I help families let go of someone they love. I tell them it isn’t failure. It doesn’t mean they love their person any less. Yet when it came to my own marriage, I couldn’t seem to give myself permission to leave.

My patients’ stories and my own meet in a question so many of us struggle to answer: How do we let go when we know it’s time, but still don’t know how?

A smiling woman with long wavy brown hair, blue eyes, and light skin. She is wearing a short-sleeved brown shirt with a small label that reads 'FIGS' on the chest. She has diamond stud earrings and her arms are crossed, with her left hand resting on her right arm.

Hi, I’m Hadley.

You may know me as Nurse Hadley. I’m a hospice nurse, New York Times bestselling author, and storyteller. My work began with sharing what happens at the bedside: the conversations, unexpected moments, and things people teach us about living as they approach the end of their lives.

Then my own life became a story I needed to tell. Leaving an abusive marriage and rebuilding brought me to questions I now explore in my books, videos, and essays: what we accept, what we keep quiet, and what it takes to let go.

I believe telling our stories can change more than our own lives. That belief connects everything I do, from writing and speaking to advocating for divorce reform and creating Legacy Dinners. I’m still learning, but I’m determined to put what I’ve learned to use.

Family gathered around a dinner table celebrating Thanksgiving, with a roasted turkey, salads, and glasses of red wine.

Legacy dinners

Everyone deserves to hear how their life has mattered to the people they love.

Legacy Dinners bring loved ones together around a table to share a meal, tell stories, and celebrate the person sitting beside them. My hope is that these gatherings give people a chance to hear how much they are loved, say what matters, and find some peace as they approach the end of their lives.

We’re beginning at local restaurants, and I’m hoping to bring Legacy Dinners to some of my book tour stops, too. Stay tuned for a gathering near you.

MISSISSIPPI DIVORCE REFORM

Leaving a marriage shouldn’t require permission from the person you’re trying to leave.

Leaving my abusive marriage showed me that finding the courage to leave was only the beginning. Getting legally free was another fight entirely. I’m advocating for true no-fault divorce in Mississippi because I want people to have a way forward, even when their spouse refuses to cooperate. Help me turn my experience into change for the people who come next.
